Curry meatballs

Makes 30 meatballs

1 kg beef mince
1 large onion, grated
1 cup raw oats
1/2 cup tomato sauce
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons chutney
2 tablespoons apricot jam
1/2 cup white wine
1 tablespoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
2 eggs, beaten
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
1 cup cake flour

Curry sauce
1 large onion, chopped and fried
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup white wine vinegar
1/2 cup chutney
3 tablespoons apricot jam
3 tablespoons curry powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Meatballs: Combine all the ingredients except the cake flour. Shape the mixture into balls and roll them in the flour.

Heat a little oil in a pan over a moderate heat. Fry on one side until the meatballs are firm before turning them over with a spoon. Brown the other side and test whether they're done by breaking one of the meatballs open.

Curry sauce: Mix all the ingredients together and simmer over a low heat for 15 minutes while stirring. Pour the hot sauce over the meatballs.
