Apple & fudge crumble

Serves 6. Preparation time 15 minutes. Cooking time 45 minutes.

5 apples, cored and chopped
2 tablespoons butter
juice and grated peel of 1 lemon
200 g fudge, broken into pieces

For the crust
1 cup cake flour
2 cups oats
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup dark brown sugar (muscovado)
1/2 cup butter

• Line a flat-bottomed pot with foil. (The foil makes it easier to clean the pot afterwards.)

• Put the apples in the pot with the butter. Add the lemon juice and peel, and scatter the fudge on top.

• Mix the dry ingredients for the crust and rub the butter in until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

• Cover the apples with the crumbs.

• Put the pot on medium-hot coals and put a few coaIs on the Iid. After 35 -45 minutes the apples will be soft and the crust golden brown. You can also bake this dish in an oven at 180°Cfor40 minutes without a lid.
